Final Post

Well this is it, end of the year and the end of my time in intermediate. Its been a short journey through this school but memorable. Its sad that I have to leave. I've found new friends and might not ever see them again. I started in room 6 term 2 2013, I was a shy,quite and scared person at the time. But i have become more confident in my own skin. If i could start all over again i would. I just don't want to think about it because its to depressing. I want to thank all the teachers for guiding me through my journey. Being here has really helped me to become closer with God. I cant believe how fast it has been.  Saint Pius X Catholic School Thank you for guiding me through my journey of faith.

Why home is a special to me

Why is home special

Home, the place I live in, eat in and sleep in, so who wouldn't think of it as a special place, but that's not the only reason home is special to me.

I have special memories that I have spent there.Well I have lived in 3 houses so there would be lots of memories. I remember one time I was being chased by my grandpa with a sandal because I was being cheeky It was the last thing I remember doing  with my grandpa . At home I find it comfortable to do things because I have the presence of my family who love and care for me.

Home to me is a safe place where I feel like nothing bad will ever happen to me. I may not feel excitement but I have everything I love at home. Home is a special place because some people don't have a roof over their head and I’m fortunate  I do.

When I am at home I listen to the sounds of a bird softly chirping in the trees as I’m safe from any dangers, and when I’m far away from home I feel  like a bird that has fallen out of their nest and has now been misplaced.

Home its not just the place I eat,sleep and live in its the place I love.

The Rio Grande

Although not the longest river in America, the Rio Grande is one of the most important. But, unlike other significant rivers, it is not used for shipping. In fact, oceangoing ships cannot navigate the waters. No,

what makes the Rio Grande so important is its location. Since 1846, it has been the official border of Texas and Mexico.

Rio Grande Geography

The Rio Grande is either the fourth or fifth longest river system

in North America. It all depends on how it is measured. Because the

river twists so much, it occasionally changes course. And these course shifts can cause it to be longer or shorter. At its last official measure, the Rio Grande clocked in at 1,896 miles. The river starts in Colorado

and extends downward to the Gulf of Mexico.

Downward is the best way of describing it too. Not only does the river extend south, but it also starts in the mountains and gets lower and lower in elevation as it extends to the Gulf.

Its name is Spanish for the “Big River,” but the Rio Grande is actually known as Rio Bravo in Mexico. “Bravo” translates as “furious,” so the name makes sense. Because of its twists and turns, it certainly does seem to be angrier than most rivers!

The Rio Grande Today

The Rio Grande today is mostly used as a source of drinking water. Sadly, much of the water has

been drained from the river. Parts of the river are almost dry! This is because people use more water from the river than the river can get back from rain and other sources. Experts are working to correct this,

though, with hopes of restoring the river to its past strength.

Today, the river is important as a source of water for Texans and Mexicans. More important, it is a symbol of cooperation between two nations. Though borders like the Rio Grande separate nations, they

are also shared spaces. The Rio Grande is therefore a symbol of friendship and peace between two peoples.

We have been making dioramas on dairy farms and trying to put in as many inputs as we can into it. In here we have a few inputs.

Expressive Writing

Here is my best piece of expressive writing. I know this is my best piece from this week because I tried to use  interesting and specific vocabulary. I tried really hard to use punctuation correctly and consistently. I also made sure It makes sense. Here It is:

SPACE

Space, a huge place full of mysteries. Is there anyone out there? What If there was a world just like ours. A place kind of like earth, maybe they won't have technology or they might be stuck in the stone ages. Maybe they might be more futuristic then our world. They might drive in hover cars, their subways might go underground, or portals take them to other places. There have been discoveries of other planets like earth where there could be a form of life. I don't like the feeling of being lonely we can't be the only people in the whole galaxy. I don't believe in aliens but I do believe there could be other people out there. Maybe in other places the will have planets and a sun, maybe not a sun It could be a giant moon and they only have night time not day. I have so many questions to ask but so many of my questions can't be answered yet. This topic really interests me, one day I will find out, Is there anyone out there?

Expressive Writing

Its a hard life trying to survive. I care too much about what people think of me. Threatening to hurt me, Making me feel small and unwanted. They drag me down,Its as if they tied a brick to me pulling me down as I desperately try to free myself from the feelings of exhaustion and pain until I just give up, let them have total control over me. As a fire lights up inside of me I feel the need for revenge, the need to cause them pain but I know I’m better than that. Suddenly the brick pulling me back shatters and crumbles. The miserable feelings leaves turning into a memory, the past.

The whole time all I had to do was ignore them, block them out.  Why should I care about what others think I'm me and I shouldn't be teased for that.

Bullying

Week 1 Reflection Term 3

This week was quite stressful, we had a Danish rounders tournament that I helped to plan. We had to settle in to our learning and do some testing. I was disappointed as the Danish tournament  was cancelled half way through due to the horrible weather.We planned everything the weather was great that day It took more than half a day to plan printing out certificates,Laying out equipment,Going over the rules and then It all was ruined when the rain started to pour. I also missed out on lots of learning I was wanting to do something besides planning and discussing.Besides that I had an amazing week. I am looking forward to week 2 and nervous for my parent interviews.

God Created Me For a Reason

I believe god created me for a reason and here is what he wants for me. 

Changes In Milk

We have been investigating the changes from liquid to solid. we put 3 different types of milk in the fridge overnight and our 3 types of milk were condensed milk,soy milk and almond . Almond milk froze and became very solid because it had lots of water. Condensed milk didn't freeze because it had no water and liquids only freeze because of water. The last thing we looked at was how water formed different shapes to fit in different places like jugs,containers and mugs. I learnt a lot from this experiment and I can't wait for the next one.

The Baptism of Jesus.

This week I was reading about the baptism of Jesus. When he was baptized he saw a light and a dove it was the Holy Spirit. It said "You are my Son.". I drew a picture about the baptism it was Jesus in the Jordan River seeing the dove when he comes out of the water. I haven't read Mark 1: 9-11 ever since I was little. I just refreshed my memory on the Holy Spirit upon Jesus. I liked drawing this picture because I could picture what the verses were explaining.

How to make a bowl of friendship

It's not easy to be a friend you have to be a role model and you have to be able to help each other. Another thing is that you have to be honest, reliable, and you got to able to show each other right from wrong. 

I've got a recipe for kindness, it's how to make a bowl of friendship. 

You need a :
A spoonful of love
A pinch of kindness
1 cup helpfulness
A small pinch of criticism
5 cups of humor
1/4 cup of salt and sugar to 
keep your friendship bitter and sweet.
4 ounces of liquid metal to keep it, rock solid.
1 bag of skittles for all your different moments
And lastly a fair amount of glue to keep it all together.  

Step 1- Add your love, kindness, helpfulness, criticism, friendship and humor into a bowl and mix thoroughly.

Step 2-  Now put your ingredients in a food processor with your salt, sugar, metal and skittles.

Step 3- After it has been processed place it all in a decorated bowl 

Step 4- Add your glue and....... 

You will have an everlasting friendship.

Reading Reflection

Today I Read two books. The Gromp Comp and Ancient Egypt .  I practiced using punctuation and I did a Quiz on the stories.  I loved reading The Gromp Comp because It was very descriptive and detailed. I have another Silly Story that I made based on the Gromp Comp. Ancient Egypt gave me lots of Facts about their fashion,music,and loads more of facts. I'm Excited to do It again next week.

Reflection

Today I was using sunshine online. I read one Fiction book ( skateboards and spaghetti )

and a Non Fiction ( Statues around the world ). I did some activities which were very simple but 1 or 2 were complex. I made my own version of skateboards and spaghetti where I was the best skateboarder In the world.  My favorite story was statues around the world because I learnt some new things about statues like that the statue of liberty was a gift from the french to symbolize freedom. I can’t wait to try sunshine online again tomorrow.

Funeral Reflection

It was a cold Monday morning with a slightly strong breeze. The weather seemed depressing. We had to attend a funeral Mass. I felt sad because like a lot of people I know how It feels to have a close family member pass away. Kaloline Telefoni I've heard that she has been very supportive of the things we do at school shes been their at every school event and It's sad to know someone so supportive has passed. As I sat In the Mass I thought about how sad  Villiami,Sione-Toa and Lopeti must of felt as I have experienced It and don't want to feel like that again. All we can do Is live our lives to the fullest and try new things everyday because you only live once.

My Kindness Poem

I had written a poem on Kindness, I had read many poems online which had given me ideas which I had turned into my own poem.

Procedural Writing/ Weaving Art

We are learning about Procedural Writing. First we had to read a piece of Procedural Writing on how to weave an "island mat".  It was simple and easy to follow because of the choice of words. We also had to practice on how to write a Procedural Writing. When we completed weaving our paper we made it into an "island mat", we decorated them to make our very own "kindness mat". I'd written kind, love and care.

R.E Reflection

Today we read the Gospel of John. We were talking about how Jesus explained how you don’t need to be worried as God will prepare a place in the Fathers house for everyone. It makes me feel safe and comfortable when I heard this. He was saying that we will all know the way to the Fathers house, we had inference that if we live a life of love and kindness it will lead us to the Fathers house. We were asked questions like "How do you know the way?" and "What did Jesus mean by if you have seen me you have seen the Father?".  Last of all we talked about the life of Jesus and what we know about him.

I have realized just like Mrs Tui said "We have to put all our faith in God.". Jesus has helped millions of people to have a belief in God and to have Faith. This Gospel helped me to remember that sometimes we just have to trust God and what he is doing.

My Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit,

Thank you for guiding me and making my belief in God stronger and stronger, day by day. I hope you can continue doing this, because I love to embrace the love, and joy I get from God. Sorry for not taking in some of the things you want me to embrace, like forgiveness and patience, just two of the things Jesus showed towards everyone. Please Holy Spirit bless people who are In need and struggling with the love and joy you have blessed on me.

Mothers Day Writing

Its a little late but Here is my writing for my mum.

Do you have that one person who is everything to you .Someone who makes you feel safe and when their around you feel like a shield is consistently protecting you from all the bad things in the world.  Well to me that person is my mum.

I know its a really cheesy thing to say but my mum is the best mum in the world, and I can prove it. First of all I say this because she works so hard just to make me feel delighted and to make our family happy, to show her I appreciate it I do my best at school to make her proud. Besides a mother I see her as a role model, best friend and an adviser.

Love, kindness and caringness are only a small amount of the virtues my mum shows towards myself, my Sister, Dad, Grandma, and I are the four people she loves the most.

Chirpy, outgoing, friendly and determined are the four words that I would describe my mum with.

Secondly  she always likes to have a chat with my sister and I and throughout those chats I've learnt good life lessons and I've liked a lot of them.

But my favorite one is the one that runs through my head all the time I told my mum I was tired and I wanted to stay from church but she told me “Do you ever hear God moaning about how tired he is from watching over us and listening to our prayers?”. Just like a lot of people my mum has a special place in her heart for God.

I love my mum and I  have cherished all my wonderful memories with her. I just wrote a 300 words explaining what my mum does to make me love her. But I could simply express how much I love her in five words….  

more than anyone could imagine.

Wednesday Reflection

Today we had Mrs Middleton as our teacher (like we do every Wednesday). I would rate today a 5 out of 10 It was alright but some of us miss behaving ruined It for the others. To me the most enjoyable thing we did today was Art. We had to paint a colour wheel using all 3 primary colours ( Red, Yellow, Blue) and black and white. we mixed colours to make other colours and had to tint and shade meaning making colours lighter and darker. I was happy with what I completed. One thing that could of been better was a behavior I reckon some of us should start listening to the teacher more so  that we can have a happy learning day.

This Week I assigned myself with a Goal to work on. In my results my Punctuation score was the lowest score out of all 7  elements. My Goal I set myself Was to use capital letters,full stops and other punctuation consistently. I have partially achieved this goal but It Needs more work.

My Reflection of the Week

This week has been pretty rough I only went to school on Monday. I was really sick on Tuesday and I had to take at least 3 pills a day to help me feel better. It got to a point where I was really bored so my mum went to school and asked for my homework. I found It challenging having to do the same work as the class but at home. I have managed to do all my work and I am preparing to do a presentation Tomorrow.

I struggled completing my maths test . It was stage 8 and I only completed 13 questions in 3 minutes.

This week the most challenging thing was having to Deal with my score in my writing test, I expected more. My Results Came out as a 4A overall but by the end of the year I would be pleased If It was 5 A,P or B. B means Beginner    P means Progressed      A, means Achieved. That Was the most Challenging thing that happened to me this Week

A Good Friend

To me a good friend is someone who supports you and makes you feel included. They would help you understand right from wrong.

You can have good friends in school,in your community or even one of your family members. A good Friend doesn’t have to be someone who hangs out with you everyday or someone who hurts others that tease you, they would be a good role model and influence you to do the right thing. At school I try to be that role model because I want to help them and importantly I want to be a good friend.

If everyone in this world was a good friend we would have such a delightful life and everyone would be so cheerful.  But reality is not everyone can be that good friend. In some peoples eyes a good friend is someone who steals money and splits it with you, but we can help them see what a true friend really is.

Throughout my years in primary school I never really called anyone my best friend because I never have been friends with someone who has influenced me to be a leader or has showed kindness towards others at all times. One year I became a school Counselor and I was very excited but my mum told me there is no point in being a leader or being the smartest student in the class, If you are not a good friend who shows love and kindness towards others.

I hope we could all be a good friend and a role model and by doing this we would be following in the footsteps of Jesus.

My Reflection of Today

Today We had a very simple day, In fact we only 3 subjects today. For some it was good and for some It was bad.We did a Statistics Pre test for 35 minutes. and for most of the day we were doing pictures for the four Sundays of lent we have had so far. My group was doing the Transfiguration of Jesus. Later we did Assessed one piece of Writing that we have done this Term. I chose My Explanation on why I want to go to Sacred Heart College. Today we were assessing our Ideas and our Structure. I had a good day and can't wait for a New learning day Tomorrow.

My Soul Friend

My Soul Friend?

A soul friend is someone you look after throughout the year, you be a role model to them and show them what a year 8 student should be like.

My soul friend is Maris stella she is a year 4 student in room 3 with Mr Gafferney. She has a quite shy personality and has a big variety of things she likes.I had the exact some personality when I was her age I was the most quiet kid in class I didn’t share my ideas. It’s still me to  this day.

What are some of the difficulties you have when you try to pray?

1. before I go to sleep I pray and when I am in the middle of praying my sister will be playing loud music or my mum will be shouting at someone and it kind of stops me.

3. I like it when I pray with my whole family and before we start  we usually forgive someone like our parents for something we did then we begin our prayer.

4. My Grandma, She always tells me to thank god for everything and always teaches me a new prayer every now and then.
